Atletico Madrid has officially confirmed the arrival of Giacomo Raspadori, adding another potent attacking option for Diego Pablo Simeone. He joins from Napoli, signing a deal until 2030.
As Atletico continues to reshape its squad, they have secured another signing for their attacking front with Giacomo Raspadori. The Italian becomes the eighth new arrival for the ‘Colchoneros’ and swaps Naples for Madrid in what will be his first spell playing outside of his native Italy, having previously represented Sassuolo and Napoli.
The transfer fee is reported to be around €26 million in guaranteed payments from Atletico Madrid. Following the collapse of their pursuit of Millot, the Rojiblancos accelerated this alternative option to further bolster their forward line.
Raspadori first made his mark in Italian football with Sassuolo, where he enjoyed his most productive season in 2021-22. At just 22 years old, he scored ten goals and provided six assists in 38 appearances. In 2023, he moved to Napoli for a fee of €26 million.
However, he has not consistently featured for the reigning Italian champions over the past three years, particularly last season, where he accumulated just 1,321 minutes on the pitch. In 29 games, he managed to score six goals and register two assists. Now, Simeone has brought him in to help rediscover his best form. Raspadori can operate in any attacking position, a profile closely mirroring that of Angel Correa.
This marks Atleti’s seventh signing of the current transfer window, following Alex Baena, David Hancko, Johnny Cardoso, Thiago Almada, Matteo Ruggeri, and Marc Pubill. This figure rises to nine if we include Clement Lenglet and Juan Musso, who were already part of the squad last campaign.
