The tension between Paris Saint-Germain and Gianluigi Donnarumma appears to be reaching the breaking point. Luis Enrique has left the Italian goalkeeper out of the squad for Wednesday’s European Super Cup clash with Tottenham, fuelling speculation over an imminent departure.
The omission comes shortly after PSG completed the signing of Lucas Chevalier to strengthen their goalkeeping ranks — a move widely interpreted as signalling the beginning of the end for Donnarumma’s time in Paris. Chevalier is now expected to start between the posts against Spurs.
According to journalist Fabrizio Romano, relations between the club and the 26-year-old are fractured, with the Italian goalkeeper unwilling to renew his contract, which runs until 30 June 2026.
That leaves only two scenarios on the table: a sale before the current transfer window closes on 1 September, or a free transfer in two years.
For Donnarumma, the clock is ticking. With the World Cup approaching, regular playing time is essential to secure his place in Italy’s squad. The Premier League is believed to be his most likely destination, with Chelsea and Manchester United reportedly at the head of the queue.
