The 2027 edition of the Supercopa de Espana is set to be staged in either Miami or Istanbul, with the American city currently the frontrunner to host the tournament in February.
Saudi Arabia, which has served as the primary home of the Spanish Supercup since 2020 — following stints in Morocco and a brief return to Seville in 2021 — is set to relinquish hosting duties in 2027 due to the nation’s commitments to the Asian Cup.
As a result, several candidates have emerged to fill the void. According to reports from the newspaper ‘AS’, Miami and Istanbul are currently leading the chase. The American city is in pole position to secure the rights, followed closely by the Turkish metropolis. Qatar has also been mentioned as a potential alternative, though its prospects are considered remote.
In a further scheduling shift, the tournament will move from its traditional January window to take place in February. The fixtures for the four participating sides have already been determined: Real Sociedad will face Real Madrid, while FC Barcelona are drawn against Atletico de Madrid.
The move away from the Gulf is only temporary, however. Saudi Arabia will reclaim its status as host once the 2027 edition concludes, with its existing contract running until 2030.
