Italy international Alessandro Bastoni has been placed under investigation by the Milan Public Prosecutor’s Office for an alleged underage prostitution offence. The Inter defender’s involvement stems from a wider inquiry into a network accused of exploiting minors and coordinating illicit nightlife events, according to reports emerging on Tuesday.
As first detailed by the newspaper ‘La Repubblica’ and subsequently confirmed by several major Italian outlets, the star centre-back is the first high-profile footballer to be formally named in the probe. He is allegedly suspected of having an encounter with a girl who was 17 at the time of the events.
The investigation remains ongoing, though the young woman—questioned as a witness—has reportedly denied any romantic or sexual involvement with the player. However, investigative documents are said to suggest evidence of a meeting between the pair.
Bastoni’s name surfaced during a broader crackdown on ‘Ma.De’, a purported escort agency based in Cinisello Balsamo, Milan. Prosecutors claim the agency orchestrated “all-inclusive” parties for VIP clients, specifically targeting professional players competing in Serie A.
On Tuesday, Bastoni was served with an official notification of the investigation, a formal procedural step that ensures his right to legal defence while authorities continue their enquiries.
As part of the same operation, the Guardia di Finanza (Italian financial police) have called upon three other footballers—Daniel Maldini, Riccardo Calafiori, and Kevin Bonifazi—to provide witness statements. It is stressed that none of the trio are currently under investigation.
The operation is designed to dismantle the agency’s criminal infrastructure by tracing organisers, recruiters, and drivers. The investigation has already led to four arrests as of last April.
The organisation’s business model allegedly revolved around hosting exclusive events for high-profile figures at Milan’s most fashionable venues, including dinners, club nights, and hotel stays where the supply of nitrous oxide was reportedly facilitated.
