Aston Villa starlet Brian Madjo etched his name into the record books on Wednesday, becoming the youngest player to both start and score in a European final during the UEFA Super Cup clash with PSG.
The curtain-raiser to the new campaign delivered immediate drama and a historic milestone. On Wednesday night, Brian Madjo secured his place in footballing folklore, becoming the youngest player in history to start and find the net in a major European final.
With PSG leading through Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, Madjo capitalised on arguably his most difficult chance of the evening to restore parity just before the interval. In doing so, the precocious teenager struck gold at the tender age of 17 years and 212 days.
Only two players have graced a European final at a younger age—both featuring as substitutes in the UEFA Super Cup. Those benchmarks were set by Ajax’s Ronald de Boer (17 years and 193 days in 1987) and PSG’s Ibrahim Mbaye (17 years and 201 days in 2025).
Brian Djomeni Madjo, an England-born Luxembourg international, made only five senior appearances for Metz last term before completing a €12 million move to Aston Villa earlier this summer.
