The stage has long been set for this year’s European finals, with the contenders finalised and venues secured. On Monday, UEFA resolved the final point of intrigue by announcing the refereeing appointments for the three marquee fixtures.
In the Champions League, Daniel Siebert has been handed the prestigious task of officiating the final between PSG and Arsenal. The German official will take charge on 30 May at the Puskas Arena in Budapest, Hungary. He will be supported by compatriots Bastian Dankert on VAR and Robert Schroder as assistant VAR. Jan Seidel and Rafael Foltyn are named as assistants on the touchlines, while Switzerland’s Sandro Scharer will serve as the fourth official.
The officiating team is further bolstered by Spanish representatives Carlos del Cerro and Guadalupe Porras, acting as VAR support and reserve assistant referee respectively.
Letexier and Mariani awarded Europa and Conference honours
French referee Francois Letexier has been selected to lead the Europa League final as SC Freiburg face Aston Villa. The match is slated for 20 May at Besiktas Park in Istanbul, Turkey. Letexier will be flanked by assistants Cyril Mugnier and Mehdi Rahmouni, with Spain’s Alejandro Hernandez Hernandez as fourth official. Jerome Brisard will lead the VAR room, assisted by fellow countryman Willy Delajod and the Netherlands’ Dennis Higler.
Finally, the Conference League final between Crystal Palace and Rayo Vallecano will be officiated by Italy’s Maurizio Mariani. The showpiece takes place on 27 May at the Leipzig Stadium in Germany. Mariani’s crew includes Italian duo Marco di Bello on VAR and Daniele Chiffi as assistant, with Croatia’s Ivan Bebek providing VAR support. Language experts Daniele Bindoni and Alberto Tegoni will serve as linesmen, while Sweden’s Glenn Nyberg and Mahbod Beigi assume the roles of fourth official and reserve referee.
