Raheem Sterling and his family were victims of an attempted burglary at their home in Oxshott, London. This is the second incident in two years.
According to British press reports, Raheem Sterling has been the victim of an attempted burglary at his home for the second time in two years. The incident occurred on Saturday afternoon, before Chelsea faced Wolves. The player and his family were inside the house at the time.
A group of masked men entered the property, located in Oxshott, southwest of London, with the intention of carrying out a robbery. Fortunately, no one was hurt, and the footballer, his wife Paige Milian, and their five children were able to leave the house unharmed.
The initial hypothesis is that the assailants thought Sterling would be at Stamford Bridge watching the match. However, he has not played a single minute recently and is not in Enzo Maresca’s plans. Upon arriving at the house, they were surprised by the presence of the family inside, which prevented them from taking any loot.
Thames Valley Police stated in a statement that an investigation is underway and they are appealing for information from neighbours and potential witnesses who may have seen any suspicious activity in the area.
Forced to leave 2022 World Cup
As mentioned, this is not the first time Raheem Sterling has been the victim of a break-in. In 2022, the forward – then at Manchester City – had to temporarily leave the England squad at the Qatar World Cup after burglars broke into his home in Cobham, also while his family were inside.
On that occasion, the perpetrators did manage to steal around €340,000 worth of jewellery and watches. A year later, three men were identified as suspects in this robbery, as well as 32 other possible cases.
