Nicolas Jackson has opened up about the emotional journey of leaving Chelsea after finalising his loan move to Bayern Munich.
The forward’s transfer to Bayern had initially hit a brief snag. Chelsea temporarily blocked the move due to a shortage in their attacking options, leaving Jackson reportedly frustrated.
However, the situation was resolved, allowing him to embark on a new chapter at the Allianz Arena with renewed focus and determination.
The 24-year-old admitted that the process was a whirlwind of excitement and sentiment. “It was an intense moment, but not for the reasons you might expect,” Jackson said.
“I was overjoyed to join one of the biggest clubs in the world, to embrace a new league and to meet such talented players. But at the same time, leaving Chelsea, my teammates, and the fans brought a tinge of sadness.
“I have experienced so many incredible moments there, from winning the Conference League to lifting the Club World Cup. Those memories will stay with me forever.”
Jackson also expressed deep respect for his former manager, Enzo Maresca. “Football has cycles, and sometimes things don’t unfold as planned—that’s simply part of the game. I learned a lot from Maresca; he has his own style, ideas and philosophy.
“At this stage of my career, I felt it was the right time for a new challenge. I leave Chelsea without regrets, only gratitude for everything I experienced there.”
His reflections offer a rare glimpse into the personal side of a transfer, highlighting both the excitement of a fresh opportunity and the bittersweet nature of leaving a club where he achieved significant milestones.
