Real Madrid captain Carvajal voiced his disapproval of Villarreal-Barcelona match in Miami, deeming it a “blatant distortion of reality.”
Real Madrid captain Carvajal has come out against the La Liga match between Villarreal and Barcelona being played in Miami, USA, considering it “a blatant distortion of the competition.”
Carvajal made these remarks on Monday in statements reported by ‘Teledeporte’, where the defender argued for a competition “under the same conditions” for all teams.
“I believe it’s a blatant distortion of the competition, as it doesn’t ensure that all teams in La Liga compete under the same conditions. I think it’s crucial that we, as players, clubs, or even the league itself, strive for fairness, and I don’t believe this achieves that,” he emphasised.
In the current round of matches, which concluded with Monday’s game between Alaves and Valencia, players from all teams staged a brief stoppage during the first ten to fifteen seconds of play.
This action was called by the AFE players’ union to protest “the lack of transparency, dialogue, and coherence from La Liga” regarding the possibility of playing the Villarreal-Barcelona match, corresponding to the seventeenth matchday, in Miami (USA) on 20th December.
This Monday, the Spanish Footballers’ Association (AFE) has proposed to LaLiga moving forward the Joint Commission of the Collective Agreement from Friday the 24th to Wednesday the 22nd to discuss the relocation of the match, convened by the employers’ association.
