The North London club are planning a significant summer overhaul and have identified Norwegian Andreas Schjelderup as a potential attacking alternative.
Determined to overhaul their squad following a narrow escape from relegation on the final day of the Premier League season, Tottenham Hotspur are stepping up their pursuit of forward Savinho. Reports from ESPN suggest ‘Spurs’ are making a concerted effort to land the Brazilian.
However, negotiations may prove difficult as Manchester City are reportedly playing hardball behind the scenes, holding out for a fee of at least 60 million euros before sanctioning any permanent departure.
While Savinho remains the priority, Tottenham are exploring other avenues in the transfer market. High on their shortlist is Benfica’s Norwegian talent Andreas Schjelderup, who carries a market valuation of approximately 55 million euros.
The winger’s stock rose significantly after a standout performance for the Norway national team, playing a pivotal role in the match that saw Brazil knocked out of the World Cup.
Spurs had previously tested the waters for Savinho during last summer’s transfer window, only to be rebuffed by City. Fresh reports suggest, however, that the Etihad hierarchy may now be more amenable to a deal.
To date, Savinho has netted seven times in 84 senior appearances for Manchester City.
The pursuit of attacking reinforcements comes as Tottenham Hotspur have already bolstered their ranks with four new arrivals: midfielder Mateus Fernandes, centre-back Marcos Senesi, veteran shot-stopper Martin Dúbravka, and left-back Andy Robertson.
