Arsenal have begun preliminary discussions about expanding the capacity of the Emirates Stadium, with early talks exploring potential redevelopment plans ahead of the ground’s 20th anniversary.
Arsenal have held internal meetings to assess the possibility of expanding the Emirates Stadium as demand for tickets continues to rise. The club is exploring options to increase capacity beyond 70,000 seats.
According to early reports, the conversations remain at a preliminary stage with no firm plans agreed. Among the topics discussed was the potential need to relocate home fixtures to Wembley Stadium should construction work proceed.
The move would coincide with the 20th anniversary of Arsenal’s relocation from Highbury to the Emirates next year. Club officials are understood to be considering modifications to the current seating layout that could add several thousand places.
The north London venue currently holds 60,704 spectators, making it the fifth-largest stadium in England. In comparison, Manchester United’s Old Trafford leads with a capacity of 74,879, followed by Tottenham Hotspur Stadium with 62,850.
