Lautaro Martinez told the press ahead of the Champions League final that his side “deserve” to win the final after reaching this stage “twice in three years”. Then they lost to Manchester City, now they face PSG.
Lautaro Martinez, one of Inter Milan’s key players who will face PSG at the Allianz Arena in Munich on Saturday in the Champions League final, felt they deserve to be in the title race again after the one they contested and lost in 2023 to Manchester City and insisted that if they win it “it will be a dream come true”.
“This year, since the competition started, we have played against great teams in stadiums with very difficult conditions, and we have always shown our game, our characteristics. The truth is that we deserve to be in a Champions League final, again, thanks to the work and sacrifice we have made,” he said in an interview with UEFA media.
The Argentina international, who said his coach Inzaghi “really has something special” and that he is “a winning coach and that’s the most important thing”, said PSG are “a strong and compact team that attacks and defends well”, so they must “be careful”.
“Some of their players, from midfield onwards, are key and disruptive. We know many of them who have played in Italy. We need to analyse their strengths and weaknesses and take advantage of them to make this match and this final a great game,” he said.
“Above all we must enjoy it, because it has been a tough competition and we have reached the final twice in the last three years, so we deserve it. We’ve worked hard, we’re humble and we want to keep growing.”
Lautaro Martínez, who has already had the experience of living great finals like the previous one in Istanbul or the final of the World Cup in Qatar against France, admitted that being in matches like these “are unique moments that remain engraved in your memory”.
