UK Prime Minister Andy Burnham has praised Manchester City’s owners for their investment in Manchester since taking control of the club in 2008.
“I’d be worried about losing them,” Burnham told the BBC, while highlighting the money invested in the stadium, training facilities and wider city. However, the former Greater Manchester mayor stressed he could not intervene in the ongoing process surrounding City.
“I have to keep a distance,” he said. “It’s an independent legal process that has to run its course. There’s a lot at stake, for the club, the fans and the city of Manchester.”
