FC Barcelona midfielder Fermin Lopez has graced the cover of GQ Hype magazine, reflecting on his rapid progress, comparisons with iconic club figures, and his bond with his teammates. The Spaniard was quick to distance himself from comparisons with Xavi and Andres Iniesta, hailing the legendary duo as “incomparable” whilst noting that his own game revolves around operating closer to the penalty area and hunting for goals.
Fermin also identified Iniesta and Lionel Messi as his ultimate idols, admitting his regret at never having had the opportunity to share a pitch with the Argentine maestro. As reported by Mundo Deportivo, the midfielder also looked back on the heartbreak of missing the World Cup through injury, despite having earned a call-up to the Spain national team setup.
Turning his attention to Lamine Yamal, Fermin was effusive in his praise, emphasising just how effortless it feels to link up with the teenage prodigy. “He is the best, and when you play with players of that calibre, football is much easier,” insisted the midfielder, who has been a standout performer during Barcelona’s blistering start to the campaign.
