Angel Di Maria is already looking towards life after football, revealing a dream to form a managerial double-act with Leandro Paredes at the helm of Argentina’s biggest clubs.
Having conquered the world at Qatar 2022, Ángel Di María has little left to prove in the game. Yet, even as ‘El Fideo’ continues to cast his spell on the pitch, the curtain is inevitably beginning to fall on a truly illustrious career.
With his playing days entering their final act, the Rosario Central icon is already mapping out his second life in football, eyeing a transition from the heat of the pitch to the tactical battle of the dugout.
While Di María’s managerial ambitions are well-documented, the intriguing twist lies in his choice of partner: the veteran winger intends to share the technical area alongside Leandro Paredes! Di María first unveiled this ambitious blueprint during a previous interview with ‘ESPN’.
“We are going to try. I am older than him, so when I retire and he begins to wind down his career, I will start the preparations,” Di María explained. “We are great friends—he is like a younger brother to me and our families are very close. We would love to do it.” The playmaker also pinpointed his ideal destinations for such a venture: Rosario Central and Boca Juniors.
“It is a challenge, but it is something we have discussed many times. We will see when the time comes,” he added. These comments have gained fresh traction following a recent reunion between the two Albiceleste stalwarts during Boca Juniors’ clash with Newell’s. Having already secured two Copa América titles and a World Cup as teammates, this iconic Argentine duo may soon be looking to replicate that success from the touchline.
