Juan Musso, a pivotal figure in Atletico de Madrid’s Champions League semi-final qualification, has hit back at Raphinha’s comments, insisting it was “madness” for Barcelona to claim a “robbery”.
Juan Musso emerged as one of the defining figures at the Metropolitano. After proving to be a saviour for Atletico Madrid and finding himself at the heart of one of the game’s flashpoints—an accidental collision with Fermin while challenging for the ball—the Argentine goalkeeper stood his ground when facing the media.
“It’s as if they believe they were denied three penalties or four red cards, but you cannot talk about a robbery. I understand what Raphinha is saying, and I respect everyone’s opinion, but let’s not claim it was a robbery. We won it on the pitch; we secured a 2-0 away victory. A last-man challenge is a red card. Barca are a great team, but talking about a robbery is madness,” he declared in the mixed zone.
The shot-stopper also revelled in reaching the Champions League semi-finals, noting that the squad had been “dreaming big for a long time” and stressing that the “group’s greatest strength is never giving up on that dream.”
“We’ve been dreaming big for a long time. We were desperate to progress from this stage, and we knew we could achieve it. This group’s ultimate strength lies in never ceasing to dream; it remains faithful to its aspirations and objectives. With the shift this team puts in, we deserve great things. The squad will give its absolute best to bring joy to our supporters,” he affirmed.
He also highlighted the “special bond” between the team and the fans: “They always get behind us, and that’s crucial for everyone—for the team, and also to make the atmosphere a little more intimidating for the opposition.”
