Barcelona captain Frenkie De Jong defended Lamine Yamal following a post-match altercation with Real Madrid players in El Clasico.
Frenkie De Jong was the first player to comment after El Clasico, a match that concluded with a post-game scuffle involving Lamine Yamal and several Real Madrid players.
The Dutch midfielder, one of Barcelona’s captains, defended his teammate in the mixed zone, stating: “If you know Lamine and believe he shouldn’t be making certain statements, you should address him in private.”
This was understood as a direct message to Dani Carvajal, who reportedly told Lamine Yamal he was speaking too much immediately after the final whistle, a comment that reportedly sparked the pitch-side confrontation.
De Jong elaborated on the situation, stating: “Lamine’s case was distinct. He did not directly claim that Real Madrid were ‘robbing’ Barcelona. He appears on the Kings League, where comments are made towards him, but I personally have not heard Lamine make such a statement. While I can understand the Real Madrid players’ perspective, I do not believe it was a significant incident.”
