Although the decision rests with the Single Judge of Competition, La Liga has informed Real Madrid that it sees no reason to postpone the first matchday fixture between Real Madrid and Osasuna.
With the Club World Cup due to end in mid-July, Real Madrid have asked to postpone the start of La Liga with a match against Osasuna scheduled for 19th August. An idea that, according to ‘Carrusel Deportivo’ on ‘Cadena SER’, does not fit in with LaLiga.
Although it is not up to the competition organisers to decide on the possible suspension, but rather to the Single Competition Judge, it is La Liga who would propose a new date in the event that the aforementioned body takes the decision to postpone the match with which both clubs will kick off the championship.
“No commitment was made or accepted to modify the calendar due to the Club World Cup,” La Liga said of the request made by Real Madrid, who proposed to move the fixture to the end of October.
The ‘Merengues’ ended their World Cup journey on 9th July after being thrashed by PSG, with more than a month to go until the Madrid-Osasuna game.
