Following Real Madrid’s claims of a bid for Julian Alvarez, Atletico have issued a scathing, sarcastic rebuttal, flatly denying any consideration of the offer.
Echoing the provocative stance they recently took against Barcelona, Atletico de Madrid have used biting irony to respond to an announcement made minutes earlier by Real Madrid. The ‘Merengues’ had previously claimed to have tabled a 150 million offer for Julian Alvarez, which they alleged the ‘Rojiblanco’ hierarchy had cordially declined.
However, that supposed “cordiality” appears to be a figment of the imagination, judging by Atleti’s social media reaction. The retaliation began on ‘X’, where the official ‘Colchonero’ account replied to Real Madrid’s post with a string of laughing emojis.
Atletico soon ramped up the mockery, releasing an “official statement with our clarifications regarding the official statement from our neighbors.” The club outlined the following points:
“1. You edited the video of the Pope at the exact moment he declared himself an Atleti fan.
2. You must have mistaken politeness for gratitude; to be clear, we have nothing to thank you for.
3. We have neither studied nor evaluated any offer for Julian.
4. How could we not have a good relationship, when you make us laugh even more than Barcelona.”
Finally, the ‘Colchonero’ club delivered one final stinging jab: “Taking advantage of the ‘good relationship’ with your new president, let’s see if you can stop ‘stealing’ players from our youth academy. Thank you very much!” they concluded.
