Lionel Messi’s debut in the MLS Cup playoffs has prompted the league to celebrate the occasion with a special initiative during the tournament. Although ‘Apple TV’ is the broadcaster for the Major League Soccer games, TikTok have announced that they will feature a ‘Messi Cam’ throughout the Argentine’s matches, so that fans will get to see him in action without missing any details.
The special camera will follow Messi throughout the entirety of the games and the footage will be broadcast-ed live for supporters to see. The live-stream will be available for free on the platform, as TikTok aim to revolutionise social media with this unique initiative. As of now the idea will only apply for the tournament, as decision-makers will wait to assess the response and engagement with the ‘Messi Cam’. Should it be a success, fans could expect similar proposals in the near-future.
Inter Miami have closed off the MLS regular season by claiming the Supporters Shield this season, as they also broke the league-record for most points in a single season, previously held by New England Revolution – who they defeated in the last game of the regular season by 6-2, as Messi bagged a hat-trick off the bench while Miami were stuck on a 2-2 draw.
Messi will begin his journey in the tournament with Inter Miami between sometime between the 25th of October the 10th of November. The team from Florida will go up against the winners of the Eastern Conference Wild Card match, which will be played on Tuesday the 22nd of October between Atlanta United and CF Montreal.
