Manchester City are yet to receive any offers for the Portugal international or make a decision on whether or not he should leave before the transfer window shuts later this month. Now, Atletico are considering a loan move for the 25-year-old, after signing striker Julian Alvarez from Pep Guardiola’s side earlier this month.

Nunes swapped Wolves for City last summer for £53 million ($67m) but only started seven of the 17 Premier League games in which he featured for the club last season. Moreover, the Portuguese was an unused substitute in the 2-0 win over Chelsea and came on as a late substitute in last weekend’s 4-1 victory against Ipswich Town. With Ilkay Gundogan re-signing for the club, a loan move away may be a shrewd decision in a bid to get regular game time.

Nunes joined Wolves from Sporting Lisbon in 2022 and played 41 times for the Midlands outfit during his only season at Molineux, before heading to the Etihad a year ago.

If Nunes does head out the City exit door on a temporary basis, he has just a few days to do so as the transfer window shuts on August 30. A day after that deadline passes, City take on West Ham in the Premier League.
