OFFICIAL: Gross leaves Brighton to join Borussia Dortmund

Borussia Dortmund confirmed the signing of Pascal Gross from Brighton & Hove Albion on Thursday. After a seven-year stint in the Premier League, the German is returning to his homeland for what looks like the final few seasons of his career, where he can be closer to his family.

Borussia Dortmund have announced on Thursday the signing of German midfielder Pascal Gross from Brighton & Hove Albion. The German international has signed his contract with the North Rhine-Westphalian outfit, with whom he is contracted until 2026, after passing the mandatory medical on Wednesday.

Gross, who arrives in Dortmund after playing for Germany at the recent European Championships, joins Nuri Sahin’s squad for a fee of around seven million euros plus variables. At his presentation, the midfielder said he has been a “Dortmund fan since I was a kid” and will try to “repay the club’s trust” with the way he plays.

“I can’t wait to play with my new teammates in front of the BVB fans at Signal Iduna Park and work with everyone to make sure we achieve our big goals,” he added.

Raised in the youth academy at Hoffenheim, with whom he made his Bundesliga debut at just 17 years of age, Pascal Gross moved around Germany’s second-tier sides Karlsruher and Ingolstadt before joining Brighton in 2017, where he has spent the last seven seasons, making more than 250 appearances.
