Chelsea squad ‘forgive’ Enzo Fernandez after charity donation

The Argentine apologised to his teammates for the racist video in which he was filmed after winning the Copa America with Argentina and pledged to make a significant donation to the fight against discrimination.

Chelsea will not impose any sanctions on Enzo Fernandez after the racist chanting video featuring the Argentina player following the Copa America win.

The 23-year-old, who joined the club’s training camp in Atlanta on Monday, apologised to the squad, which included several players who had felt particularly hurt by the songs in the video.

According to ‘The Guardian’, the squad accepted the midfielder’s apology and the club have taken it into account when deciding to sanction their player. Fernandez has pledged to make a charitable donation to an organisation that fights and educates against discrimination.

The Blues have confirmed that they will join the Argentinian in donating to the same organisation. As a result, Chelsea decided to close without sanctions the disciplinary file that had been opened against the player in order to analyse what had happened.
