It’s official. David Raya, who became Mikel Arteta’s first-choice goalkeeper last season, has signed permanently with Arsenal to continue his career at the Emirates Stadium. As a result, he has left Brentford after four seasons with the Bees.

David Raya received the Golden Glove award last season after conceding 31 goals for Arsenal on loan from Brentford. His performances were so good that he even overtook Aaron Ramsdale as first-choice goalkeeper, becoming the main goalie in Mikel Arteta’s squad.

As a result, the Gunners have decided to sign him this summer and have reached an agreement with the Bees for his permanent transfer. “We are so happy to have completed the deal to sign David from Brentford,” Arsenal sporting director Edu said.

“He had a beautiful first season with us, winning the Premier League Golden Glove. He is a talented international, a great professional and a popular figure at the club,” he added.

Raya played a key role in the English league title race but his best efforts along with those of his teammates were not enough to give his team a trophy. However, the 28-year-old is keen to continue to offer his best services to fulfil Arsenal’s dreams in the 2024/25 campaign.

“After a year on loan as a Gunner, I can finally say that I’m an Arsenal player for the coming years. I’m excited to see what the future holds but always living in and enjoying the present,” he claimed.
