Courtois reached 100 clean sheets with Real Madrid

Real Madrid goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois reached 100 clean sheets with Los Blancos in the 2-0 La Liga victory over Real Sociedad and spoke in an interview about how special he feels after reaching this achievement.

Real Madrid’s last La Liga win over Real Sociedad on Saturday left a bad taste in the mouth, despite getting the three points, due to Brahim Diaz’s injury in the 25th minute of the game.

However, there were many other positives such as the achievement of Merengue goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois who reached 100 clean sheets for the team.

“It’s special to reach 100 clean sheets with Real Madrid. It’s not always easy to keep a clean sheet. We do a great job as a team and it showed today. When we keep a clean sheet we usually win. I hope to raise this figure a little bit this season.”

The Belgian goalkeeper said he is feeling good after last year’s injury and is training hard. “Last year I had to watch a lot of games from the sidelines, but now I’m very happy to be playing a lot of games.”

Elsewhere, with the Champions League just around the corner, the former Chelsea goalkeeper spoke about Los Blancos’ opening game against Stuttgart at the Santiago Bernabeu.

“We’re happy to be playing at home and especially in the Champions League. This season we have to get used to the new format and we have to win our home games no matter what. I hope we start well, with the support of the fans and finish with another clean sheet,” he concluded.
