Hansi Flick still doesn’t know when Dani Olmo will be available to make Barcelona debut as financially-stricken club can’t register new signing

It has been almost three weeks since Barcelona completed the marquee signing of Spain’s Euro 2024 hero Olmo from RB Leipzig, however, they are yet to register the player with La Liga due to the club’s financial constraints. The Catalan giants have parted ways with Ilkay Gundogan, who returned to Manchester City, and Vitor Roque is on his way to join Real Betis on loan. However, the two departures are not enough as they need to offload a few more players before they can accommodate the Spain international in their squad.

The Blaugrana included Olmo in their matchday squad for Saturday’s clash against Athletic Bilbao, however, his participation in the game was subject to being registered. After missing the Spaniard’s service in yet another match, Flick was asked about Olmo’s situation, to which the German coach claimed that he had no idea when the attacking midfielder could finally take the field.

Speaking to reporters, Flick said: “I don’t know, I hope to have him on Tuesday. But these are things that we have to accept and we can’t change them. We knew that when he signed his contract. I’m concentrating on what we can do. Today we wanted to win three points and we did that.”

After registering back-to-back wins against Valencia and Athletic Club, Flick and his men will be back in action on Tuesday as they take on Rayo Vallecano in La Liga.
