“I can’t talk about my retirement now, it would be selfish”

Alvaro Morata wanted to put aside his possible retirement from the Spanish national team to celebrate with his teammates the European Championship won on Sunday. “I can’t talk about that right now, it would be selfish,” he said.

Alvaro Morata watched the end of the match against England from the bench. The striker, who was replaced by Mikel Oyarzabal, was asked about his possible retirement from the Spanish national team while celebrating the recently won European Championship on the pitch, but the captain wanted to postpone that moment.

Speaking on ‘Cadena COPE’, the No.7 preferred to dodge the question a few days after having assured that, quite possibly, this tournament would be the last he would play with ‘La Roja’: “I can’t talk about my retirement now. It would be selfish of me,” he told reporters.
